Right now, Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology and division Rock Tools is looking for an experienced and business savvy people person for the exciting mission as R&D Manager. Are you eager to develop the next generation of our solutions, define the setup of our R&D operations and inspire the way we do business? Then we’re eager to meet you!
R&D is the soul of our work, as we deliver cutting edge products and solutions to our mining and construction customers across the globe. This job is a great chance to lead and inspire our R&D team of competent technicians and engineers, in a diverse setting where collaboration and flexibility really matter. By bringing revolutionary thinking, bold ideas and daring creativity to the table, we’re ready to shape the future of this industry.
About the job
As R&D Manager for Rock Tools, you establish a truly customer-centric, efficient and profitable R&D organization that supports us in expanding our offering and strengthening our market position going forward. You do this by holistically ensuring optimized ways of working, and you form a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing and best practices. You drive ongoing product development, take responsibility for our technology roadmaps, act on business priorities and manage the R&D project portfolio execution. You also ensure effective daily operations, and you create new opportunities by transparent communication, disrupting the status quo and empowering people to unleash their ideas.
We operate in a complex setting with many interfaces, and strong collaboration is central to us. You make sure to keep all our internal and external stakeholders in the loop, and not to forget your close interactions with our customers to understand their needs. Building bridges between the R&D organization and our product lines, production units and sales areas is another important item on your agenda as we work to bring R&D closer to the business.
The members of your R&D team are located in Sandviken (Sweden) and Patancheru (India), and we need you to be based at either one of these sites. With a global customer base, the job also includes some planned travel.
About you
We’re looking for an inspiring, clear and open-minded leader with a technical background – someone who drives improvements, invests in people and rewards fair play. Equally important is an understanding of business drivers and how to transform a vision into a strong activity plan. You have a MSc in Engineering or Materials Technology, combined with experience from similar positions and managing teams in global and cross-functional settings. You’re genuinely interested in getting to know our customers, understanding their challenges and how we can come up with solutions that exceed their expectations. You’re also skilled in driving technology projects and initiating change, and you communicate fluently in English, while knowledge of Swedish is beneficial.
As a true innovator, you’re brave enough to work at the cutting edge and you have the aspiration to impact the future of manufacturing together with your team. You both challenge us and are willing to be challenged, and you’re committed and skilled in making things happen on the big scale.
About us
We’re thinkers, doers and collaborators. Musicians, athletes and movie lovers. Unique people, all part of a team, and it’s our diversities that make us successful! At Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology, we believe in finding that perfect mix between work, family life and interests, and we happily support our employees in balancing this.
